Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle to Refresh and Revamp your Life

In this busy and dynamic life, where modern lifestyle has made life so fast, we often end up following unhealthy habits simply because they are easier, faster and what everyone else seems to do. For example, we eat frozen food, processed and junk food, binge eat while binge watching television, avoid any physical activity because we feel tired or we don’t need to or we don’t feel like it. The list is endless. Have we ever stopped and pondered for some time whether we are doing justice to our body and taking adequate care of it? Are we feeling healthy, energetic, youthful and joyful or not?

A healthy lifestyle is important for everyone. When we take care of our physical health, we feel better mentally and emotionally too. We feel more fit, relaxed and able to cope up with stressful situations and problems. Following a healthy lifestyle makes you have fewer health problems, saves money spent on junk food and vices such as alcohol, cigarettes, substances etc., exercise uplifts your mood and you take charge of your life. Healthy living incorporates the following:

Having nutritious, balanced and timely meals. Eat enough fruits and vegetables to fulfil your body requirements of phytonutrients. Consume a balanced diet full of proteins, fibre, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and good fats. Avoid empty calories in the form of junk, dead and processed food. Eat fresh food. Eat on time, at regular intervals and maintain the same timings every day. Reduce the intake of whites – sugar, salt, processed flour and rice. Drink plenty of water before and some time after meals. Eat consciously and mindfully. Avoid late night bingeing.

Sleeping for 6-8 hours at night, taking short power naps during the day, turning in and rising early are essential for the body to heal and recuperate.

Be physically active. Avoid elevators and escalators as much as possible. Use stairs as much as you can. Walk, run and take up an outdoor sport to increase muscle strength, stamina, weight loss, flexibility, agility and endurance.

Socialise with positive and like-minded people. Stay connected with others. It takes off your attention from your own problems and happily engaging with people produces happy hormones, busting stress and increasing well-being at the same time.

Mindfulness and Meditation are essential to free your mind from unwanted thoughts and bad feelings such as resentment, hatred, irritation, guilt and fear. Meditate regularly to tap the hidden powers within you, activate your full potential and realize your true self. Practice breathing exercise to increase your life force energy.

Start slowly, with less activity in the beginning and then slowly build it up. De-clutter your home and workspace, for better focus and concentration. Make healthy living a way of life and priority. You deserve to live life to the fullest and the best of everything. You can experience life optimally only when you are completely healthy – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
