Yoga, as we all know is a series of exercises, techniques and postures that build body health, stamina, flexibility, agility, focus and concentration. Yoga also increases youthfulness and longevity. Yoga is a practice that originated in ancient India, to balance the body, mind and soul. Nutrition is the nutritive value of the food we consume. It is crucial for health, development and well- being. Yoga and Nutrition are interrelated as it is imperative to consume nutritious food for better results in Yoga, on the physical and mental health.
Consuming nutritious food is about having a balanced diet, replete with proteins, minerals, vitamins, phytonutrients, carbohydrates, fibre and water. Avoid junk and fried foods of all types as they are difficult to digest, increase obesity and many other serious complications. Eat as much raw foods as possible, such as fruits and vegetables. This will make Yoga more beneficial and impactful.
Some negative things and substances such as alcohol, drugs, cigarettes etc. should be avoided at all costs. They harm the body, increase stress and toxins within the body and mind and make you more short-tempered and apathetic towards others. Staying close to nature is the best way to be. Consuming these things makes the effect of Yoga null and void.
The meaning of Yoga is to unite or the union. Yoga practices are designed to increase our life force energy or prana and make us more energetic and lighter. It is the merging of individual consciousness with the Supreme consciousness. Practice yoga early in the morning, in the fresh air regularly for better results. Once you start doing it, you might experience initial discomforts such as body aches etc., but that is part of the detoxification and healing process. Keep doing it and your body will get attuned to it. Choose your teacher well or you can self-train yourself through the Internet.
A combination of Yoga and consuming a nutritive and balanced diet can transform your life completely. Getting rid of discomforts and diseases such as insomnia, irregular bowel movements, aches and pains, indigestion, abnormal blood pressure (high or low), acidity and many others to getting free from fears and traumas, feeling a sense of peace, calmness, love and happiness are the few benefits that practitioners of Yoga and Nutrition experience. You also experience high levels of stamina, creativity, resilience, willpower and zest for life.
