Nourishment the body is an integral part of maintaining overall health and well-being. A top to bottom approach to nourishing your body requires some changes in your routine and lifestyle. The benefits are a healthy, fit, active and agile body, an alert and sharp mind, ability to live life fully, work more productively and enhance happiness.

Make your diet healthy with generous helpings of fruits, vegetables and water. If you struggle with fruits and vegetables, then get creative and add them to your diet in the form of juices, salads, soups, yogurts and smoothies. If time is a constraint, plan ahead and experiment with healthy recipes that are easy and less time consuming to cook. Proteins, vitamins, minerals, fibre, carbohydrates and water help the body conduct its regular functions and maintains agility and fitness. The body’s daily requirement of nutrients must be fulfilled in order to be more active, healthy, alert, fit and agile. Ensure to eat fruits and vegetables, preferably raw and of all colours. Whole grains and lentils are rich in proteins and are extremely nutritious. If you find your refrigerator laden with fruits and vegetables that you had stocked up to binge on but couldn’t and they are about to go waste, figure out unique ways to consume them. Last but not the least, one must be inspired and internally motivated to eat healthily. No one can enforce this on us. It has to come from within. So, stir up your creativity, imagination and indulge in cooking. Healthy eating is a lifestyle choice that can enhance your physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: Regular physical exercise, Yoga and Meditation are a must for staying physically fit, active and mentally alert. They increase resilience and will-power. There is absolutely no substitute for physical exercise. There are numerous things one can do, if only you choose to and plan accordingly. There are many outdoor sports such as cycling, running, brisk walking, swimming, ball games etc. There are wonderful fitness regimes such as aerobics, dances, Zumba and an assortment of workouts available on the Internet. The food you eat influences your workout and your diet combined with your physical activity make you healthy and fit.
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝: Water is one of the most important constituents of our body. It is our lifeline. Not having enough water leads to dehydration, wrinkled skin, stomach troubles etc. We exhale our body water through breath and excreta. Water plays an integral part in our body functions such as brain, heart, muscles, organs, joints etc. Water controls body temperature and helps transport toxins and wastes out of the body. Water also carries nutrition to various organs. We often undermine the importance of water and consume less water owing to our sedentary lifestyles, laziness and ignorance. Drinking 8 – 10 glasses of water everyday is helpful. Warm water first thing early morning works wonders. Fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers, apples, gourds etc. are also great sources of supplying water.
𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧: It is vital to keep your brain young, active and engaged for building overall health. Your brain needs regular exercise to be agile and alert. Playing crosswords, memory games, puzzles, learning new skills, reading, meditating, yoga, practicing a mindfulness lifestyle etc. are some fruitful ways to exercise your brain. Mindful eating is extremely beneficial as it helps in the absorption of food as well as a good exercise for the brain. Ask questions in your mind about the food, the taste, the ingredients, pay attention to your family members you are dining with and increase your awareness. Eat slowly and mindfully, chewing every morsel at least 32 times. This increases your focus as well as helps digestion. Avoiding distractions such as the television, electronic gadgets and smartphones while eating and working also helps the brain to concentrate better.
The above steps are beneficial in rejuvenating and nourishing the body and making it healthier and fitter. Nourishing the body increases youthfulness and longevity, makes the skin glow, the face shine, releases toxins from the body and provides the required nutrients to every organ, cell, muscle, bone, tissues, nerves and other parts of the body.
